Bethesda restaurant bans students during early lunch hour

It's been a rough week for Montgomery County Public Schools, ranging from an imploding leadership structure in disarray to a violent assault, and the media coverage that results from such events. The week isn't ending on a high note, as one Bethesda restaurant has banned students during the early lunch hour. Bite of Asia, located at 7613 Wisconsin Avenue, has posted a notice that no students under the age of 18 are permitted inside the restaurant between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The ban appears targeted at students from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.

Can't be true, democrats are citing mainstream media statistics saying crime is down, economy is up, border is secure and legal weed won't cause lung cancer.

They're not the first. I was shocked at the number of students, from Walter Johnson HS, I saw crossing Old Georgetown Road @ Democracy at 11:00 yesterday morning, all heading to the Wildwood Shopping Center. No merchant can deal with the sudden onslaught of that many students, especially with the fear of a mob attack of shoplifters.

Anyone know of a source for BCC Student Body demographic and other general data?

Many students are older than 18. If the students are rowdy ban them all. If they spend $ and are civil be happy for their business.

@8:57 Here's some basic info about B-CC high school:

https://www.publicschoolreview.com/bethesda-chevy-chase-high-school-profile

If accurate, the state rates for proficiency in math and reading/language arts are dismal and a great disservice to our kids :-( The horrible rates at the state level might be related in part to Covid, but the discrepancies are unacceptable.

"The percentage of [B-CC high school] students achieving proficiency in math is 71% (which is higher than the Maryland state average of 20%) for the 2020-21 school year. The percentage of [B-CC high school] students achieving proficiency in reading/language arts is 87% (which is higher than the Maryland state average of 36%) for the 2020-21 school year."

1:32: I am dismayed how terrible the proficiency for the state as a whole!

Regarding BCC students-at lunch time the areas is taken over by crowds of students with an
"ornery chik" An under reported event was the arrest of BCC students in car jacking. And media silence about the infamous head stomping incident. Learning

Make them pack their own damn lunches!

1:32, thanks, but those types of numbers don't explain the head stomping, shoe stealing group mentality.

2:45 AM That has the making of a new blockbuster movie title: "Barefoot in the Parking Lot"

"Many students are older than 18. If the students are rowdy ban them all. If they spend $ and are civil be happy for their business." Do you think they haven't tried? They have - and learned that today's students are not viable for their business. Good for them, I hope others follow suit.

In two of my years in high school, I had lunch in 3rd Period. In one other year, I had it in 2nd Period. 11-12:00 is LATE, not “early”.

2:45 They are associated. If peer pressure pulls kids towards academic achievement or being a gang banger. -Learning

@2:45 I hear you, and I can't explain those actions by B-CC high students, or anyone for that matter. The info and link were posted in response to a request for demographic and general information by @8:57 ("Anyone know of a source for BCC Student Body demographic and other general data?").

Maybe someone else can provide the info you're seeking.

MCPS publishes demographic data for every school:

Does MC participate in moving students en masse from one area normally not in the principally local area?

I heard it as an 'uppity chic.'

This restaurant appears to be carryout/delivery only, with no dining room. Why would there be some kind of crowd control issue?

I remember that the McDonalds was blocked from reopening in the building that replaced it, because prospective tenants did not want to share the building with rowdy high school students.

On the other hand, the school in question was not identified. Maybe it’s Lourdes rather than BCC?
