Owner hopes for mid-November opening of much-awaited restaurant and bar
There is "light at the end of the tunnel" for Roof Bethesda owner Alan Pohoryles, and for Bethesda residents anxious to take the elevator to his future rooftop restaurant.
Pohoryles is currently targeting mid-November for the grand opening, and will have a Montgomery County liquor license hearing on November 7.
The first menu for Roof has also been unveiled on the restaurant website. Among the items that jump out:
* Shrimp and grits (one of my favorites)
* The bar will use Maryland-based Sloop Betty vodka
* Burgers will be ground fresh, in-house daily
* There's a ceviche on the menu
* Raw bar
* Some menu items hint that the rooftop could become a brunch destination
* Beignets and churros are both on the dessert menu
Work continues at the Norfolk-Cordell II construction site, so stay tuned for updates.
