Construction crews are working through the evening tonight at Bethesda Row, generating curiosity among residents and patrons enjoying the unusual warm weather. And, of course, aficionados of heavy machinery are simply enjoying the spectacle.
Trucks are lined up around by the former Bentley/Rolls Royce dealership, as cement mixers and cranes work together to pour concrete down in "The Pit." That massive hole is rapidly filling with the construction of a 900-space public parking garage. Eventually, The Darcy and The Flats, two luxury residential buildings, will be built atop that cavernous parking facility.
What's going on tonight?
My guess is that Clark Construction is taking advantage of the warm night to stay on or ahead of schedule with concrete pouring. Such work is difficult to complete properly during the cold temperatures of Bethesda winters.
