Amazon Locker arrives in North Bethesda's Pike District

Amazon Locker has arrived in Montgomery County at last, and North Bethesda has one of the first locations. It is found in the Shoppers Food Warehouse at 5110 Nicholson Lane.

What is Amazon Locker? You can have your Amazon.com order shipped to an Amazon Locker location near you. Your package(s) will arrive at that location, and you will receive an email notification with an access code that will open your locker. If you do not pick up your order within 3 days, it will be returned to Amazon.

If you live in a building where you have difficulty receiving your packages, this can really come in handy. On the one hand, this is an ideal service for the Pike District, where many apartment and condo buildings are opening or being constructed. On the other hand, most of these new buildings have high-end concierge services, so this may not be as in-demand for those residents.

If most of these new buildings have high-end concierge services then it would not really be ideal service for the Pike District, where many apartment and condo buildings are opening or being constructed.

I think Amazon is being short-sighted. Probably P&R asked them to put it there to make their building seem cool, but it's not that necessary.

Note there is another benefit to Amazon Locker -- you can use it to return items also. That's more likely to be used by P&R residents to save them a trip to the UPS store. As many Bethesda residents know, the UPS store on Hampden is usually stacked floor-to-ceiling with Amazon returns on a daily basis.

concierge services can be hit or miss. I see a lot of complaints of not getting packages that go to the building front desk. maybe this is a safer/more sane option if you don't have a concierge at your apartment building or if you don't trust your concierge to actually be organized!

7:09 AM If you look at the address for this locker, you'll see it's nowhere near a P&R property.

7:11: It is .9 mile from Pike & Rose and a 17 minute walk according to Google Maps. So not particularly close. Closer to some other buildings like N. Bethesda Market and Wentworth Square.

I have used the Amazon lockers in NoVa before with great success for dropping off returns.

10:47AM That's got to be one of the lamest catch phrases of late. So, of course, you flip it to Dyer.

Are you always this dumb or are you making a special effort today?

Dyer likes the concept cause they are too small for him to get stuffed in like in high school

glad to see these lockers on MD now. I use one on Alexandria near my work all the time. Amazon could not do business in MD due to a state tax issue. guess that's no longer the case now.
