My Gym from Westwood Center II will be on hand to help kids with tumbling exercises and interactive games. Another local business, 28 Spokes, will have a bicycle obstacle course (including teeter totter, swerving and rumble strips) set up. Wildtree Foods will allow kids to make their own dip, and will also have popcorn.
The event will take place in the parking lot near Rite Aid.

Those events are a joke. They rope off a bit of the parking lot and 10 people show up.
Lots of potential. Make it a real place to gather, and move the event to Friday evenings, and they'll do well. Anyone else remember when they used to do this at Bethesda Metro Center?

This massive project could be a huge fail for Equity One. Huge buildings with no tenants. Very few people will want to walk 2+ miles (roundtrip) to Metrorail which may/may not be operable?
The councilmember Reimer had to lie to the citizens regarding this fact cause he wouldn't know. Westbarders will find other places to shop and may not return. Who likes driving into a perpetual construction zone. Not me.

@11:08 I don't think so. First, no one is going to walk 2+ miles to the Metro -- they'll take a bus instead. I live in another part of Bethesda that is about that far from the Metro, and I just take the Ride-On in front of my house to get there.
As for huge buildings and perpetual construction zone -- that's what is happening already in downtown Bethesda. It hasn't seemed to stop people from buying condos, even those are much higher prices like $1mln+ for the Lauren (already half sold). I'm sure the Westbard places will be much cheaper, so should be even easier to sell.
3:57: A survey of actual Westbard area residents confirmed only 8% use bus to commute from home in the morning. Along with being outside of walking distance to Metro, that's why urban development there is not "smart growth."
