Repairs underway at South Street Steaks building

A construction team is now working inside the South Street Steaks building on Cordell Avenue. The restaurant has been closed since it was struck by a car earlier this year. Many around the Woodmont Triangle are hoping the cheesesteak shop can return to the space soon.

That place was a disgrace. That whole block can go down. There isn't one decent restaurant along there. Screams for a big building.

Didn't the South Street people call it quits after the building was smashed into, or have they said they'll re-open? That place was one of the few open late, even on weeknights, so I appreciated having it there.

Why would Woodmont residents hope it returns? Firstly, you don't know that. Secondly, it was awful. What Woodmont residents do want is something good. Nothing along there is great. Cal Tort is good but so much in that area sucks.

The "Open" sign was lit last night, windows still covered and front awning gone.

Robert Dyer is on top of this.

Nothing can beat the guy who wrote an article about the sign that was going to go up at Lebanese Taverna. That was peak sign blogging.

@8:01 California Tortilla closes at 10pm. South Street was open much later than that, even on weeknights. The only other hot food fast take-out option in the area is the hot dogs at 7-11.

Every time I see that Window Washer Guy (the one who wears flag-themed clothing), I think of how hard he has to work to make ends meet, whereas Robert Dyer lives off the fat of the land and can wander around like a hobo yet still have a warm place to sleep.

10:46 AM You spend way too much time thinking about Robert Dyer.
What has he done to do you personally? You've probably never met or spoken to the man.

There should be some late night options for sure when you get the beer munchies. Isn't that what Tastee Diner is for? I understand South Street fit the late night bill but those people must have been hammered because that's a god awful excuse for cheesesteak.

Robert Dyer clearly occupies a large space in your head.

@ 12:29 PM - Who are you and why do you feel compelled to respond to every comment about Robert Dyer, within minutes of it being posted?

You are desperate for attention from Dyer.

You clearly need help.

I took a break from this blog for about a year and nothing in the comment section has changed. Just like old times.

Still have a guy here shilling for his own bethesda blog and eager to defend the status quo.

Looking forward to it!

10:48AM You spend way too much time jumping to defend Robert Dyer. 2 minutes!
What is he to you personally?

"probably never met or spoken to the man" joins "genesis of your inner pain" in the sheepshill slogan library.

I would love if someone could tell me the genesis of my lower back pain.
