Mamma Lucia closed for remodeling at Bethesda Row

Mamma Lucia has temporarily closed its Bethesda Row location on Elm Street to remodel the space. The project is expected to take about two weeks.
Mamma Lucia says that they will deliver meals to Bethesda residents from their Rockville and Silver Spring locations (my guess would be the latter for downtown and southern Bethesda residents) during the closure. You can place your delivery order online. I have to admit I was concerned to see the signage removed, though!

Likely the sign is being revised to put back the “Lucia” part that was removed when they reduced their space and Jeni’s moved in. I hope they add a vestibule in the design, as in the winter, the dining area was almost so cold it was unusable, when folks came in and out. Perhaps they are changing to a more fast casual setup with limited interior seating as well. Folks were really packed into the reduced dining area after the downsizing. Maybe they are putting in high private booths with more separation for social distancing, apparently the new normal.
