Anthropologie moves merchandise into vacant cafe space at Bethesda Row

The Terrain Cafe inside Anthropologie & Co. at Bethesda Row closed at the beginning of August. Now the space has become part of the sales floor at the home goods and clothing retailer. Merchandise on display is now changing like the fall foliage from autumn themes to Christmas, including wreaths and Christmas trees.

Is anyone actually buying anything from this store? I can't understand how it's staying in business.

How is this store open and so many good places have gone bankrupt? Truly nothing will be left in this world besides Amazon and Apple.

Anthropologie specializes in boho, short for bohemian, fashion and décor. Colorful prints, mixes of different prints, loose blouses and dresses (perhaps to cover up the 'fuller' figure), and so forth. Most of the fashion merchandise is made of cheap synthetic fabrics and is manufactured in China or comparable countries. Some higher-end jeans and brands are thrown in for good measure. They do a good online business, or did, before COVID. The store is getting much less traffic than it used to, so your point is valid. The women who tend to shop there probably overlap with those most hysterical about COVID. I snagged a couple of pairs of good brand cords on sale late last year, and have purchased jeans on sale there in the past, but otherwise I'm not a fan.

Everyone seems to have high regard for Anthropologie, but do many people actually shop there? It is a massive space for something boutique.

I walked in there a while back and saw absolutely nothing I'd ever buy. A store full of overpriced junk with good marketing.

I miss Barnes & Noble which was in the same place.
