Bethesda construction update: Audi Bethesda (Photos)

There has been significant progress on the structure that will become the new Audi Bethesda dealership at 7015 Arlington Road. The sidewalk is closed in front of the site. EuroMotorcars plans to open the new facility in 2021.

Hopefully they've figured out a way to deliver the cars to this dealership without parking the car carrier trucks on Arlington Road. It always annoyed me when EuroMotorcars did that.

It looks different that the rendering posted on the site. No windows are being built on the third level. I don’t understand why these type of projects are not fully reviewed by the Montgomery County Planning Board, or that the public has no part in the review and approval process. Most communities require all projects to undergo a design review of some sorts. Only big projects that utilize Bethesda Overlay Zionist (BOZ), seem to get any review, and most of it is technical compliance reviews, compared to any design aesthetic review. The Design Advisory Panel does indeed comment on planning issues, proportion, material and design details, but once it gets DAP’s blessing, the planning board seems to approve everything, with very little comments.

10:26 AM EuroMotorcars has plenty of room on property to unload yet I see car carriers still blocking lanes on Arlington.

Euro has a sign on their property saying no car carriers allowed.
