Hampden House is about two stories above ground level at 7316 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda. There appears to have been a momentary setback, though. A demolition crew is on-site today, and it is demolishing part of the second floor of the structure that was already built with jackhammers. Perhaps one of our resident construction expert readers can clue us in on what would cause them to do so in the comments section below. When completed, Hampden House will contain 366 rental apartments, and 10,110 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Developer B.F. Saul anticipates a 2025 delivery date for the project.

Great pics. As someone who has lived in Bethesda for 37 years, I seriously don't understand people who lament the bulldozing of "old" Bethesda.
My architect buddy feels the forms got pulled early…Faulty mortar seems unlikely…At least they caught it now. Not like the structural mess that was at the Silver Spring Transit Center. What ultimately was the main cause of that?
Concrete is tested when it is poured by taking a sample of the pour. Occasionally structural analysis of the test sample shows an improper strength, and small sections of the construction might need to be removed and replaced. It could also be an error in construction.
So many projects going on. Wonder why. Maybe because we elected somebody who actually got an infrastructure bill through Congress. 2 trillion. No wonder builders are building.
Are our kids going to pay for it. They should.
