Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at the Davis Library at 6400 Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda yesterday morning, October 30, 2023. The robbery was reported at the public library at 10:15 AM Monday. That's 15 minutes after the library opened, on its regular Monday schedule.

You know things are bad when folks are holding up the librarian.
I know some elderly folks who need help with their taxes and meet up with CPA's who volunteer their time via AARP at that location... Whomever did this crime and has now put even more fear into the the minds of innocent people should get the death penalty. Put me in that Voir Dire AND I'll give the trifling shiftless thug perp the NEEDLE myself! #ENOUGH!
That's not the easiest place to get to, one has to want to go there and not much else but the library proper... soon they'll be going door to door. I'm sure many of the libilk wil say "what hysteria!" but it.is happening right before our eyes but many refuse to see it.
Did they want some loose change for the coffee machine?

So glad I moved from that area 3 years ago...sad but I loved living there for about 20 years. It was going downhill quickly...
I agree, @1:58. It *is* isolated on Democracy Blvd's six-lane, ten-foot median road with the only structures within a two-block radius the 2,870-students (plus however many staff,) of Walter Johnson High School; the five-building medical complex on Rockledge; and the two Old Georgetown Road shopping centers --Georgetown Square and Wildwood. Talk about the boondocks; the Davis Library might as well be on an ice floe.
I agree with 1:58, it's enough an out-of-the-way place to roll someone. It takes planned intent, not just a random crime of opportunity. What do you think happened, the perp was shopping at DSW and figured they'd go pick up a book and them decide to rob someone?

Only a fool would believe such incursion into non commercial and residential areas would get less frequent. Now it's about "being owed" vs "being earned."
