Assault in parking garage at Chevy Chase Lake
Montgomery County police were called to a parking garage at Chevy Chase Lake on New Year's Eve, after someone reported having been assaulted there. The assault was reported inside a residential garage in the 8500 block of Chevy Chase Lake Terrace at 8:18 PM, on December 31, 2024. An individual was also accused of damaging property in the same incident.

The original call broadcast was for a property-damage hit-&-run accident in the garage, with no mention made of an assault. Which is NOT to say no assault happened. I can well imagine the caller being shoved or something like that if he confronted the striking vehicle's driver, and when the police got there and heard what happened they added assault to the incident. If a driver is capable of hitting another vehicle and fleeing the scene he is probably capable of physical violence, too. But, for the record, said assault was not mentioned as a component when the call for service went out on the air, which at least suggests the victim didn't consider it significant.
