CONVENIENCE STORE OPENS AT WESTFIELD MONTGOMERY MALL (PHOTO)

While much attention is focused on the new and upscale Dining Terrace addition at Westfield Montgomery Mall, one new addition to the retail center is serving more practical needs. Montgomery Market Place is a convenience store located in the Old Navy wing of the mall, and probably a welcome addition for residents of nearby apartment buildings in an area of Bethesda underserved by convenience stores - or just mall patrons who want to grab a bag of chips on their way home after a shopping spree.

Didn't there used to be an odds and ends store in that spot or nearby?

Will they sell candy there, or did ArcLight block them from doing that?

Nothing screams high-end mall like a convenience store!

At least they might offer some frozen burritos for Dyer to do video reviews on.

That end of the mall is a lot like wheaton plaza.

Why did they kick out CVS, then?

When was CVS in the mall last?

They had another convenience store on that end a year or so ago, but it closed.

As Robert reported this Fall, They also have a "As Seen on TV" store, which used to be a staple at Lakeforest Mall.

That wing of the mall is where retail goes to die. I thought the arrival of Cheesecake Factory and Bobby's might drive out those eyesores, but I guess no such luck yet.

Lakeforest's cast-offs are going to Montgomery Mall? Wow.

7:38 AM - The CVS used to be on the lower level, between Sears and Nordstrom's. It's been gone for at least several years now.

Hmmm I don't remember a cvs there. Must not have been there long. I know there was one at tysons before.

3:00 PM - It was a People's Drug for much longer than it was a CVS.

What the hell is the people's drug? Is this BRAVE NEW WORLD?!

Infinitely preferable to thowse grim old days with Garfinkel's and Raliegh's.

Ah, Garfinckel's and Raleigh's. Certainly classier clientele than a convenience store.

@ 11:06 AM - Actually, this part used to be the lower floor of the Woodies, which was JCPenney for a few years, and then this, so it's definitely gone downhill.
