Things Remembered closes at Westfield Montgomery Mall (Photos)

Things Remembered has closed at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The store, which specialized in personalized gifts, was a longtime tenant at the mall. As you can see in the photo below, the space is already mostly cleared out.

Is demand for monogrammed items down, or is it because there are just more options of where to order them (mostly online) than in the 1980s?

I do not find this surprising. This is not the kind of sophisticated, upscale store that Montgomery Mall wants, nor Bethesdans want to be seen shopping in.

The saddest part is when they take the signs down.

Rip, very upset

I will never be your typical Bethesdan, but who cares who sees whom anywhere? Looming around in Tiffany's doesn't exactly turn one into a diamond. :D

Monogramming implies personalization and permanence. Um. I fail to see reason to fault that sort of sweetness, even if I own nothing monogrammed myself.

Wow, Andrew is a snob. I thought people this stuck-up only existed in 1980 teen movies.
