Bethesda construction update: Vük pinball arcade

More than just pinball machines are being loaded into Vük, the pinball arcade opening soon on St. Elmo Avenue. Tables inside, and picnic benches on the outdoor patio, will provide seating for those who want to enjoy some pizza with their games.

The arcade will also stay open until midnight on weeknights, and 2:00 AM on weekend nights, except for Sundays when it will close at 8:00 PM.

Looks interesting. Any idea on opening date?

They actually would fit well into the former Soup Up space since it has a lot of exposure.. but I guess that location is doomed.

10:55: No specific date, but a sign posted says "Opening soon".

There's no way in the world this will survive. Said it when it was announced and I'll post when it closes.

It's not intended to be permanent. The building is scheduled to be redeveloped in the near future.

That makes sense. That had not been announced in any of the reporting but I wouldn't be surprised if that whole block gets razed. Just what we need old buildings with character replaced by multi-use office buildings.

Beer?

This is intended to be a pop-up, and mostly for a rich guy to let the public try out his pinball collection. Think of it like a museum with pizza.

They'll do OK in achieiving their goals I think. It's not like they're only selling vegan soup!

4:24AM I knew it was temporary but couldn't remember why I knew. Dyer called it a pop-up in his original post.

Great idea.

4:55: Yes, I believe there are plans to obtain a liquor license in the future, but not at opening.

Like the lady at the deli counter said, "Next."

This will be very popular with families, tweens and teens - great spot for PTA fundraisers too.
