Beefsteak opening June 29 in Bethesda (Photos)

The staff at Beefsteak was cooking up a storm Saturday at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. It looked like they were open, but the newest venture by local/global celebrity chef José Andrés was cordoned off from potential customers.

Training was underway, but the fast-casual veggie palace will open to the public this Wednesday, June 29.

You're behind the times. It's already very much open.

A fast-casual place in a mall food court is a "palace"?

Also, which failed restaurant did this replace?

It didn't replace a failed restaurant. Qdobo closed that location only.

They are not open. According to them, they open June 29th, although you might find a soft-opening or employee training before then.

You know, you can find something negative in just about everything... if THAT'S what you're looking for. And, obviously, that's your lot in life.

@ 7:38 AM - Are you talking to Dyer? LOL

Robert Dyer said...

5:44: No, I'm ahead of the times, and any moron can tell by noting the restaurant is CORDONED OFF FROM THE PUBLIC in these photos. They said come back Wednesday.

Robert Dyer said...

7:38: Yep, and in this case it's somebody frustrated that I was first to report the opening date for Beefsteak.

8:34 - What's sad is with their mind focused on negative thinking, they're left broken and aimlessly plodding along. And then they become confrontational.

Dyer broke the story here about Beefsteak coming to the mall awhile back. He's continues to update the story for us. Thanks Dyer!

They are open. Period.

They put up the cordon when they saw Dyer coming, and took it away once he was out of sight.

I couldn't quite make our the details on the menu from the photo. So it's all vegetarian? Not sure if a "big salad" will fill me up at lunch.

Wheeeeeerrre's the Beefsteak?

Wheeeeeerrre's the Beefsteak?

3:06: There are options to add chicken sausage, salmon or mozzarella to your bowl or salad, but everything else is vegetarian or vegan.

I'm suing them for false advertising!

I will never support a José Andrés restaurant because of his lack of respect for those who do not share his political views. At first glance, this Beefsteak concept seems to be a rip-off of CAVA our home grown fast casual sensation. I hope Beefsteak fails.

8:31 - You're an idiot.

3:06 - As Dyer mentioned you can add meat, but it's also not really a "salad" place (and nothing like CAVA, 8:31). It's more of a composed vegetarian meal. It's pretty decent, nothing too exciting but a nice break from the other fast-casual places I been to. It seems like a reasonable addition to an upscale mall food court.

BAWAHHHH! Has G. Money ever been to CAVA???

Fool.

G. Money is right – BEEFSTEAK is COMPLETELY different from CAVA and pure genius.

At BEEFSTEAK when you come through the line, you'll encounter a first set of vegetables and AFTER the veggies you can add grains like rice, quinoa or bulgur, and sauces, like a spicy tomato or cilantro or yogurt.

At CAVA you select rice and sauces BEFORE veggies

BEFORE/AFTER – see? COMPLETELY different

If that’s not enough, take note that BEEFSTEAK provides beer and wine, but CAVA provides wine and beer.

It’s absurd that anyone would question the genius or integrity of the esteemed Mr. Jose Andres.
