And not a moment too soon. Much of Arlington Road in downtown Bethesda looks like a road in a third-world country, and nothing is ever done about it. Until now.
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation's Division of Highway Services will begin resurfacing the busy street today - but the severe weather forecast suggests the start might be delayed until Friday.
Some of the work will be done at night, so get ready for that, residents of Arlington Road and nearby streets!

Thank you, Hans Riemer!
Thank you, George Leventhal!
Thank you, MoCo Machine!
7:02: News flash: They had nothing to do with it, and even if they did, they should be embarrassed about how long it was delayed.
Great news, but...
I'm not thanking anyone until it's done and wonderful and makes me forget how bad it could get.
I guess Dyer couldn't figure any way to give Hogan credit for this. Otherwise we would be seeing that stock triple-photo of Hogan here.
Third world country? Wow. Insensitive or oblivious much to what the rest of the world is like?
#firstworldproblems
So how come the council members have nothing to do with road paving and store openings, but closings are all their fault?
7:35: They're to blame for the closings due to their anti-business policies, and they're to blame for the condition of Arlington Road. Just another example of why we need a councilmember WHO ACTUALLY LIVES IN BETHESDA. If I was on the Council, this would have been fixed years ago.
"Arlington Road resurfacing to begin in Bethesda", where will it end? Does Arlington Road go anywhere else?
It is about time!!!!!! I have seen better roads in third world countries. Regardless of who got this moving it took way too long.
Dyer: "If I was on the Council, this would have been fixed years ago."
Rocky Horror Picture Show Audience: "But you're NOOOOOOOOT!"
I hope they put in bike lanes.
"If I was on the Council"
Dyer, you are referring to a contrary-to-fact situation. The subjunctive must be used:
"If I were on the Council"
Bethesda deserves representation on the Council.
Berliner lives on Rockville Pike.
The others only visit on bus tours and for fundraisers.
9:10 I wish! Don't think that's in the plan though
10:11: Now I'm having a flashback to the time Nancy Floreen thought you could add bike lanes to any road just by magically repainting the lanes and adding a bike lane. She told the DOT guy to just get out there and spray 'em on. "Wrinkled sweater? Make it better! Your bike lane in a spray!"
9:17: If a female County employee had made that mistake, George Leventhal would have berated her publicly with raised voice. "What year is it?! What year is it?!"
The sidewalks need help as well. Speed bumps near crosswalks would help with some of the aggressive driving.
George Leventhal should ask Dyer, "What time is it?! What time is it?!"
Then maybe Dyer will set his stupid time stamp to the correct time zone.
"Wrinkled sweater? Make it better! Your bike lane in a spray!"
Is Dyer making fun of Chinese laundries? Sounds kinda racist. But no surprise.
This street would be better if it was removed and a park put in its place.
