Bethesda construction update: Stonehall Bethesda ultra-luxury condos (Photos)

The Stonehall Bethesda ultra-luxury condo building at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Battery Lane is in the homestretch of construction. I have to say that this may be the best looking of the post-recession developments in downtown Bethesda, with the unique porte-cochère entrance, circular driveway, and center roof spire.

The result is a cross between a grand hotel, and a very-exclusive private school (the Trinity School in New York being an example, if slightly shorter in height). I suspect some sales will be made on the appearance of the building alone.

I don't know what you call the recessed feature in the center of the building, but that looks quite nice, as well. Some windows are in place. The driveway really stands out, as virtually no other new construction downtown is offering pull-off driveways for vehicles to serve guests and deliveries.
Porte-cochère
Delivery of the Stonehall Bethesda is expected this summer. The developer is Duball, LLC, and McWilliams Ballard is in charge of sales. They are currently offering hard hat tours to prospective buyers. Visit the sales gallery at 7706 Woodmont Avenue.

I like the design as well. The cinder block square in the left front corner is a by of an eyesore though compared to the nice stone and glass details elsewhere. Hopefully that turns out okay.

8:21: It's currently available for lease as a restaurant with outdoor seating.

This building looks more like a cartoon of a nicer, old school building in NYC. I much prefer the look of 7770 Norfolk. That is by far the best designed residential building in Bethesda, if not all of Montgomery County.

Not only does 7770 look terrible, last year I took a walk though of it and whoever designed those rooms should retire. Terrible layouts in the two that I was shown.

1:03 clearly doesn't understand design or architecture..did you actually look at any of the floor plans? Most of them were smart and well thought out. I think you should leave Bethesda.

2:15: With students in MCPS being beaten and gang-raped during the school day in school buildings, I don't know how they would feel safe. You'll have to #ThrowTheBumsOut in 2018 if you want your kids to truly be safe in school.

The rape in Rockville HS last month was pretty horrific...but when was the last time something similar happened in MCPS?

And what does this have to do with a new apartment building about to be delivered in Bethesda? I don't think Duball LLC would be happy to see one of Dyer's rants on an article about the Stonehall.

6:33 PM: Did you blast "BethesdaFig" for talking about kids not being safe? I think all developers would be eager for new leadership that could end the horrible headlines about Montgomery County that have now gone nationwide. It certainly doesn't help sell real estate when these terrible impressions are being broadcast around the world. So, as I said, let's #ThrowTheBumsOut in November 2018.

Don't vote for people that believe in fantasy. Do you want your Councilmember in 2018 believing that Montgomery County is ran by a corporate cartel? Think before you vote. Already start being aware of what Dyer believes in.

3:24: If you believe the County Council isn't controlled by developers and other assorted special interests, you are very much alone in that belief. Just check the size of the term limits victory. You are the outlier, not me.

Term limits passed because of the property tax hike and people being unhappy with new development; some want it, some don't, some want modified, some want infrastructure first, some think it's taking too long, some think it's happening too fast.

The bottom line is people are unhappy, and think new blood will see it their way.

Cartel. SMH. What an imagination! Dyer, you should write an espionage fiction novel.

His rants about the cartel are laughable. Who could take him serious as a candidate? I can't tell if he's being humorous or really believes in this. If I ever saw him on the ballot again, I'll immediately think about his ramblings about a cartel.

Call it a cartel or whatever you want. The fact is the current Council isn't working for residents. Just look at who their donors are. Follow the money...
