Demolition of Ourisman Honda wall at Capital Crescent Trail may resume, or... (Photo)

Just a heads-up: A new sign has appeared at the entrance to the Capital Crescent Trail on Bethesda Avenue. It warns trail users of "Demolition work ahead" between now and April 28.

Montgomery County code inspectors recently halted the demolition of a wall Ourisman Honda constructed right up against the trail, fearing it was unsafe for trail users to proceed. That wall is part of a larger addition that intrudes on several easements surrounding the trail, as well as the trail itself. A Board of Appeals process is underway to decide the fate of a large garage that is the centerpiece of the addition.

However, the sign also mentions "future trail work," without specifying what they are referring to. Until I can find out what's going on, be careful when passing through that area.

Even after you do "find out what's going on," we will be careful. Sheesh Robert you're such a narcissist with an ego the size of the moon. You make it sound like a piece of the wall almost fell on your head while taking this picture. Anyway thanks nonetheless for the update but you sprinkle it with such silly statements.

"Future trail work"

I smell a misuse of funds for the War On Cars!

Can't we just evict that dealership? It has NO place in Bethesda Row for Christ's sake. Lower class trash.

9:53 AM Honda is hardly "lower class trash"

Thanks for the reporting Robert. I've been wondering what is happening related to the Ourisman wall.

Why can't a Bentley dealer open up there? Or Maserati? ANYTHING is better than the trash we have now.

10:35 AM You have Audi, Acura, Mercedes, Volvo right in the downtown.
Plenty of nice luxury vehicles choices right there.

Are there stand alone Maserati dealerships or are they all in the orbit of a Dodge-Jeep-Fiat dealer, like in Gaithersburg?

Bentley and Rolls Royce used to be on the same road, pretty close to where Fresh Baguette is now. They also had Lotus. Rolls moved to where Audi is now, but then Euromotorcars gave up all 3 franchises as the money wasn't there.

Word I got from Euro is that they'll be doing a big expansion of the Mercedes dealership, mostly by building up since they can't build out, where they currently have their garage (towards the Strosniders parking lot), near the Crab House.

I love this site, I am elderly and don't get out as much as I used to. .I like to know what's going on in the town I have lived all my 89 years! it's do informative! Keep up the good work. When you get elderly and 65% housebound, it's easy to lose sight of what is happening in your neighborhood. I so look forward to each post. I lived in Bethesda when the only restaurant was sir Walter Raleigh inn and Odonnell sea food house. Oh, we also had a Howard Johnson and an army navy store! Makes me cry sometimes when I see your posts. I'm so happy to have a way of seeing what developments and restaurants are popping up every day. Thank you Robert.

Robert, have you ever seen a site plan or landscaping plan of Ourisman's parking lot? It seems they could really clean up the area, add some planting and lighting to create a more pleasant front yard on Bethesda, as they are really integrated into Bethesda Row. I have only seen rendings od the finished building remodeling in the showroom, and not on your site. As a neighbor, it would be nice to review the plans for the finished project.
