Timpano demolition imminent at Montrose Crossing (Photos)

Say your last goodbyes to the empty Timpano Italian Chophouse at 12021 Rockville Pike, in the Montrose Crossing shopping center. The building has been fenced off for demolition, and demolition permits are displayed at the site. Property owner Federal Realty is replacing the restaurant with a new 18000 SF, multi-tenant retail structure.

What was this place before Timpano?

I think it was a Mexican restaurant.

I'm surprised FRT is staying with low rise on this site - I'd like to see a tower.

12:53, i'm not sure i agree, i'd prefer most of the new towers be located in the westbard area, that place really needs the density, especially given its proximity to metro.

12:53: I think there are a couple of factors in the decision - First, they are waiting to get the increased density in the White Flint 2 sector plan. Second, my guess is that this retail building will stay open out front while the main shopping center structure and interior parking lots are redeveloped (Giant, Value City Furniture, etc). Very similar to what they did with the low-rise retail in front of Pike & Rose.
