Community has closed in the ground floor of the 7770 Norfolk apartment tower in downtown Bethesda. A sign in the restaurant's window announced the closure yesterday. Owner Mark Bucher said he will reopen shortly with a new concept centered around burgers. Taking into account feedback from patrons of the upscale diner, the new restaurant will retain what people liked about Community while changing what they didn't. Bucher knows a thing or two about burgers, having been one of the founders of BGR.

Looking forward to the new burger concept!

On Sunday, October 29, 2017, all three lanes of southbound Wisconsin Ave. will be shut down due to construction between Cordell Ave. and Battery Lane during the hours of 9:00am-9:00pm. Traffic will be detoured at Battery Lane around the construction site, however please find alternate routes as heavy traffic and resulting delays are expected.
Why in the world would you put another burger place here. BGR and Bold Bite are within feet/blocks, not to mention the places like Rock Bottom that have many burger options.
Robert doesn't get his information from that legacy news, he has his own sources. The legacy magazine steals from him so they should be crediting him for the information.
Robert just used NBC4 as his source on his Rockville blog. To his credit, he actually linked to them.
Anonymous 2:09pm continues his defamation campaign against a local journalist.
Same well worn lies, told again and again. I hope you're being paid to post all this negative stuff... otherwise, what a total waste of your days.
When did restaurants become "concepts"?
Gazette: "Do you support in-state tuition to illegal immigrants?"
Robert Dyer (2006): "No. But these questions do not address the whole issue. It’s popular right now to blame illegal immigrants for everything and I’m not going to participate in that. I would rather address the variety of challenges before us."
Why do so many of you asses post about Dyer when the post should be about the topic of Community, its crap food and service and their new planned burger joint.
Nah, it's just me taunting Dyer with a news release
It did seem odd to me that you'd have a diner that wasn't open in the morning. I'd have more inclined to go for an omelet around 9 or 10.
"Burger place" = return of McDonalds
Looks like another dozen comments went to Comment Heaven.
Everything I've heard is that the service was really bad there.. so how is changing the menu going to solve that problem? They'll just end up offering what he offers at BGR across the street, but for a higher price since it's a sit-down place.
Think he's locked into a long-term lease combined with Medium Rare next door, so he's trying to find a way to make some revenue to cover it?
Highlighting Dyer posting off topic and his personal rants I guess.
Concept? It’s burgers.
12:23: I'm "posting off topic?" What the hell are you talking about? I wrote the damn article.
3:46: Why do you use an 11-year-old document as a relevant bio/cv today? I've done 11 years worth of work and activism since then.
Why not refer to the present, such as your updated George Leventhal bio, which inadvertently has exposed that Mr. Leventhal has secretly gone back to school on the taxpayer's dime all these years to buy himself bonus degrees. He's a "candidate for PhD?" When did that happen? Holy smokers, this is a whole new scandal. Councilman goes back to college on taxpayer-funded tuition. This could be the script for 24 Jump Street!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL!!!!!!!
I thought he said Council was a full-time job. Turns out he's killing time on-campus. Wait til Ficker gets a load of this.
Maybe if I get elected to the Council some day, I can go to law school and medical school on taxpayer's dime while punching in my 3-4 hours a week on the dais.

"Leventhal has secretly gone back to school on the taxpayer's dime all these years to buy himself bonus degrees."
LOL, what nonsense from Dyer. Leventhal completed his Masters in Public Administration (from Johns Hopkins, a private institution) in 1987, long before he joined the County Council.
5:08: Talk about a dodge - - you stated he is a "candidate for PhD." That's not 1987, old sport. He's never told the public he is currently pursuing a PhD.
Using terms like old sport only encourages your readers to point out that you’re a 50 year old man living with your mother in her home. Not a good look...
We shan’t worry about you getting elected because your last election proved what a joke you are.
"Mr. Leventhal has secretly gone back to school on the taxpayer's dime all these years to buy himself bonus degrees. He's a "candidate for PhD?""
You don't have the slightest idea of how one obtains a Ph.D.
Montgomery County is full of smart people with advanced degrees. I don't understand why you think anyone would see this as a negative.
And lots of smart people who weren't born here, who came to pursue the opportunities that are available in our County. I don't see why you believe you will win votes by insulting them. Especially since many readers have pointed out your hypocrisy on this issue, given that you were born in Virginia.
"He's never told the public he is currently pursuing a PhD."
Wow. lock him up. heinous. anti-american. suspicious behavior.
He never told the public why he likes button down shirts.
This is deception at the highest levels.
Don't you hate it when you try and make a point, then ruin it with a stupid typo?
I'm Guilty! :)
LOL! More dodges. Leventhal is on the record saying he deserved $137000 because the Council is a "full-time job." Yet he has been secretly going back to college using that taxpayer money and didn't tell anyone, quietly now adding it to resume for County Exec race. Pretend you own the Council seat for life, but use taxpayer money to pad your resume on the off chance that term limits pass. Scandal!
I thought only prisoners in the County jail did this!

Whoa, this just in, confirmed by the Takoma Voice: Leventhal "is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy."
He's never, ever talked about this publicly. This totally sinks his claim that the Council is a "full-time job." What else is he doing with all his free time during the week that he hasn't disclosed?
OMG, Dyer!
People have full-time jobs while they pursue their PhD.
"Yet he has been secretly going back to college using that taxpayer money..."
Um, Dyer... a salary is yours to spend as you please.
If I worked for a company that insisted on knowing how I spend my salary?
Well, I wouldn't. I don't live in North Korea.
Claiming that a politician shouldn't used his taxpayer funded salary to go and further his education is probably the most inane argument I have ever heard on this blog, and this is saying a LOT.
Dyer's hero $3.6 million weekly golf trips is a far worse use of taxpayer dollars.
"Dyer's hero $3.6 million weekly golf trips is a far worse use of taxpayer dollars."
Most of that going into the man's own companies.
Emoluments.
When local officials don't want to grapple with all of the challenges we face in the County, changing the topic to Presidential politics is a quick & easy way to sidestep.
11:16AM: It's called a metaphor. 6:41 used it. 10:46AM expounded on that thought.
It sounds like it has more to do with YOU not wanting to grapple with other's ideas.
The Magazine was at the soft opening of George’s Chophouse. Dyer - no invite. How’s that for a metaphorical bodyslam, Bobby. Guess your nastiness is catching up with you, old sport. Looking forward to the article in Bethesda Magazine soon.
