True Body Fit to open in historic Bethesda post office this month (Photos)

The gym being constructed inside the historic Bethesda Post Office building at 7400 Wisconsin Avenue has a new name, and finally some hope of opening soon. After a lengthy construction process the owner acknowledges was "delicate and complex," the gym has also changed its name from Bridges to True Body Fit. It is expected to open its doors before the end of the month.

True Body Fit plans to turn the relatively small size of the space into an advantage, by marketing itself as a gym that will offer more individual and personalized attention than the mega-gyms popping up countywide these days. You can't tell from the street, but there will also be a rooftop yoga terrace. Fitness programs will be designed to balance cardio, strength, yoga, nutritional awareness, healing, and stress reduction.

Did the owner have anything to say about their construction trucks blocking the left lane of the cross street (Montgomery Ave?) almost every day, including during rush hour? That's a very busy street, and they are being as inconsiderate as EuroMotocars that blocks Arlington Road on a regular basis.

This is sad news. The old Post Office on Wisconsin Avenue is a lovely building, and the addition of a new fitness facility I greet with the same enthusiasm as an announcement of a new nail salon in Bethesda.

Such a lovely building. Such a waste as to its planned use.

(Parking issues alone makes this new business site a goner in 10 months.)

@1:05 There is a sizable County garage a block up the road on Waverly. Presumably people who are into FITNESS wouldn't mind walking an extra block?

Should be a lot of folks who can walk there from their office or home, so maybe parking isn't as relevant.

They’ve been paying rent all this time during construction, seems money may not be an issue.

Hope they make it but yeah..

This gym is going to be gorgeous and well done in keeping the "post office" front building. Just love it! Good luck, no doubt this is going to be a success.
