When I returned Monday evening, the hose was still gushing, and the flooding was even worse. When it's not a water main break on Old Georgetown, or a geyser near Veterans Park, it's something like this that makes no sense at all. WSSC will often open a hydrant to flush brown water out of their pipes in a particular neighborhood, but only temporarily, and a WSSC employee is actually present the whole time. I've never seen this particular situation before.

Weird water problems continue in the Woodmont Triangle
Another weird Woodmont Triangle water phenomenon has popped up in one of the usual places, the Old Georgetown Road corridor in downtown Bethesda. This time, around midday Monday, I found a hose with a strange nozzle attached to a fire hydrant at the corner of Old Georgetown and Cordell Avenue. It was causing a flood of standing water at the end of Cordell, and a pedestrian hazard.

Why are commments disabled on the taco story? “WTF?”
Popeyes was never coming to this space. I know Dyer loves fast food, but clearly the demand in downtown Bethesda isn't there. The demographics downtown skew older and very wealthy.
@ 5:46 AM -
"8280 Wisconsin will be 14 stories."
On the subject of Taste of Bethesda, it is very strange that only 2 of Robert Dyer's 18 photos of that event (Photos #11 and #12) actually showed the name or menu of a local restaurant that participated. Both photos were of the same restaurant, Poke Dojo.
Photo #3 shows a long line waiting for the booth of one restaurant, but the name is illegible (unless you open the image in a new tab and manually zoom in) and no menu or food items are visible.
Photo #7 shows a close-up of one of the booths, but neither the name nor the menu are visible, and there are no food items visible, either.
Photo #13 shows "Marriott International" but that is not in Bethesda and it is not clear from where the food comes. And no menu shown.
This is a good time to mention that Sears is still open.
Comments not allowed on taco joint post. Me thinks there's something fishy going on here.
Did you check with WSSC? I saw this happen once and called in and they told me they were flushing the system or something like that.
Since there is no comment link for the "World Class Tacos" story above, I'll leave mine here. It appears that tacos are the new panini, and soon to be gone fad food. What then?
Welcome WTF World Class Tacos!
Dyer stared at a puddle of water last night.
Today he slept through much bigger utility news.
Big, big news on Rockville Nights today.
Here is a rumor that is just as good as any of Dyer's -
Robert Dyer will be our next UN Ambassador!
Meanwhile he blames The MoCo Cartel for Federal Realty's moribund Rockville Town Center, on his equally moribund Rockville blog.
