Utility work continues on Cordell Avenue in Bethesda
A utility project continues on Cordell Avenue in Bethesda. It appears to be a major electrical line replacement under the street. Watch for lane closures between Old Georgetown Road and Woodmont Avenue.

After that construction is complete, they need to remove the barriers and open those streets permanently. The streetery cannot and should not stay indefinitely. We have to move on.
The streeteries definitely should stay permanently. They get tons of use every day and are a much better use of urban space than letting a few cars park there.
Hey Dyer or anyone else in the know with facts, not opinions: What is the law in Maryland or even MoCo concerning "Cashless" or debit only food or other establishments? Is this even legal? Can Subway subs or Joe & the Juice just say they don't accept cash at all anymore? I would really like to know if this is totally illegal and what recourse can be pursued.
5:54: They are legally allowed to do it, but it is controversial as some consider it discriminatory. Sweetgreen had tried it several years ago, and a number of businesses adopted it during the pandemic to avoid cash-handling.
Typical anti-car, MoCo wacko statement about streetery being made permanent. Marc Elrich and Biden's thank you notes are in the mail. All those streetery setups need to be removed immediately. Yep, in this crazy area, likely the person that posted that opinion, is probably correct the longer they remain in place. Screws up traffic downtown Bethesda which is already close to pre -pandemic levels.
4:41 Is unable to find highways 355 or 187. Instead needs to drive through the middle of 2 small urban blocks that otherwise provide nearly zero carrying capacity and have no driveways/entranceways.
1:36 - Dumb comment that makes no sense. Alexandria will be making some of its streetery concept permanent. That's a different story and a totally different layout that mostly would be conducive to making pedestrian only. Bethesda is not Old Towne Alexandria. Open the streets already.
As a resident who lives a block or two from the north streetery, I love it and hope they make it permanent. I'm fine with a small amount of traffic inconvenience for some improvement to the outdoor options in this area.
