Cubasi Bistro expanding to Bethesda (Photos)

Cubasi Bistro
is expanding to downtown Bethesda. The fast-casual Cuban restaurant has an existing location in Sterling, between Dulles Town Center and Dulles International Airport. Their menu includes the classic Cuban dishes, sandwiches and empanadas you would expect, and also a few from Puerto Rico. A roasted whole pig can be ordered 3 days in advance at the Sterling location.

The Bethesda restaurant will be in the ground floor of The Seasons apartment building at 4710 Bethesda Avenue. This was previously home to Jimmy John's. Cubasi is on the slower end of the fast-casual spectrum; orders are placed at the counter, and the food is brought to your table when it is ready.

This may be good who knows? But that site is maybe one of the worst places to easily get to and really tough to notice both walking and driving by. Sure, there's a huge underground county lot right there but so often, they are a pain to quickly get in and out of and folks prefer street or above ground parking. It's just easier. I wish them luck but that site isn't a good one.

Doesn't help that the bike lane took up all the parking across the street. Expect a lot of Uber Eats and other delivery pickup traffic.

They just need some signage down on Bethesda row pointing people up the street.

I think the location being close to Bethesda Row, but certainly less rent, might be a good choice. With the World of Beer, the new Starbucks, and the future Italian restaurant and All Purpose Pizza coming to the 4747 Building, a nice array of eateries will be in place. Pretty easy to park in the Lot 31 garage, or the surface lots east of Wisconsin.

Looks like it's $15 for a Cubano or $16 for a Media Noche. Pass.
I'll go to Vace's for $8 for the Italian.
