Like many small businesses that operate with a very small staff in Bethesda, Peter's Carryout at 8017 Wisconsin Avenue takes a short break for vacation each year, usually in the summer. For 2023, they have scheduled the temporary closure for July 22 through July 29. Peter's Carryout is best known for serving "Bethesda's Best Steak & Cheese." The compact restaurant has also gotten great respect from the usually-Bethesda-averse dining critics at The Washington Post over the last decade.

A great place for breakfast and lunch. A Bethesda institution.
The food can be tasty - most of the time - but the regulars can be a bit overbearing and I’ve found the owner can be a tad judgy if you it’s been a while since your last visit.
