But as you can see, the standing water remains this week, covering a large area of the roadway. As we experience a dip in temperatures again, with another expected this coming weekend, this annoyance and pedestrian obstacle could become fatal black ice below 32 degrees.

River Road standing water an accident waiting to happen when temperature drops
A mysterious water main break or underground stream has been releasing various levels of water onto River Road at the Capital Crescent Trail bridge crossing for over a year. WSSC workers were seen there last week, and one would presume they had fixed the problem at last.
But as you can see, the standing water remains this week, covering a large area of the roadway. As we experience a dip in temperatures again, with another expected this coming weekend, this annoyance and pedestrian obstacle could become fatal black ice below 32 degrees.

Luckily, there are no temps close to 32 or below in the long-range forecast. Dodged a bullet there, didn't we? Whew.
Did you call 311, Robert?
Meanwhile, on the East County blog:
Robert Dyer: "We have a cartel of multiple dictators who are behind the Council, and working in unison. They are in the development and non-profit fields, and in certain of [sic] the unions. They are in collusion with local media, most notably the Washington Post and Washingtonian magazine. Together, they control MoCo elections."
I love Dyer's constituent service here!
I love what Robert Dyer is doing for Bethesda and MoCo!
I really find it annoying how you sensationalize everything. Yes it is nice that you report a water main leak that could be dangerous, but to state that LETHAL black ice is possible is just stupid. Why not go further to rile up your readers. Baby killing black ice spotted on road! You always make such an effort blow everything out of proportion.
Every comment seems to be based on your displeasure with the powers that be, with a message that under your watch, these terrible thing would not happen.
This became an icy mess when it was freezing a couple of weeks ago. Work crews had no choice but to descend on the scene to remedy.
Now that's its warmer out, no one is focusing on it. I'm glad Dyer is putting a spotlight on this. Great constituent service in my book.
This problem could be LETHAL!
5:24:/10:53: It was 31 degrees in the 20816 overnight. You must be feeling pretty stupid right now.
Meanwhile, readers of this blog were alerted to the danger, and were prepared for the conditions of the roadway. So we can see that, yes, if I were on the Council, we would have attention to these basic issues that our corrupt criminal Council currently ignores in favor of political grandstanding.
@ 3:51 AM
I hope Hans Riemer wasn't alerted. Set up a trampoline there too just to make sure.
What would be the purpose of setting up a trampoline in the middle of a state roadway? That would obstruct traffic.
Oh, I see what 6:11 was trying to say. He thinks that Hans Riemer would be so triggered by learning that the temperature fell below freezing last night, that he would jump out a window. This would be hard to do in that location, given that all the buildings "there" are a single story.
6:11's brain is weird.
I miss BethesdaNow's daily handjob to Riemer. Is there any blog that has picked up Hans' daily adventures, pet projects, etc.?
9:32 AM And yet, you've been obsessed with Dyer for longer than 4 years.
10:12 AM - You've been obsessed with whoever you think I am for a very long time. LOL
6:53/8:10: I think the commenter is referring sarcastically to the infamous Riemer Trampoline Incident, where he suffered a serious injury while out of town, and for some bizarre reason arranged to have his Pravda website Bethesda Now print a story with the most convoluted explanation of how it happened, involving a trampoline.
It reminded me of when athletes hurt themselves doing something they are contractually forbidden to do, and then get a friendly sportswriter to do a puff piece about how they tripped while bringing in a bag of groceries or something.
Most officials who have an injury don't even mention it to the press, much less try to make a public splash about it.
I'm not surprised that Dyer knew exactly what 6:11 meant. Not surprised in the slightest.
"do a puff piece about how they tripped while bringing in a bag of groceries or something"
Aha...like women do with domestic violence.
4:12AM - is it like "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing?"
