Taste of Bethesda 2019 set for October 5

New Bethesda hotel
restaurant among
participating eateries

Taste of Bethesda 2019 has been scheduled for Saturday, October 5 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This is the 30th anniversary of downtown Bethesda's largest annual event. Admission to Taste of Bethesda is free. Tickets will be sold on-site; tickets are $5 for four tickets and each taste costs one to four tickets. Parking is free in public garages nearby, and the free Bethesda Circulator bus will be operating throughout the event.

I have just received the latest list of participating restaurants from Bethesda Urban Partnership, and downtown Bethesda's newest hotel restaurant is on it. Leo & Liv will be opening in The Bethesdan Hotel (formerly the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel) this fall.

Other first-time participants will include Casa Oaxaca, Lotus Grill & Bar, and Poke Dojo. They'll share the event with some of Bethesda's top, award-winning dining destinations, including Duck Duck Goose, Chef Tony's, Jaleo, Medium Rare and many more.

Live entertainment across 5 stages this year will include 8 Ohms, Caz Gardiner, Chopteeth, Heather Aubrey Lloyd (2019 Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards winner), Mary-El, Moonshine Society, Sweetnova and Patrick Alban. The cultural music and dance stage will present Dynamic Dance Team, Furia Flamenca, Rhythmaya Dance, Soul in Motion and Tepua Hio Hio.

Bob, when was that picture taken - 2014?

He ha...just like in 2018 - he stands there like a scarecrow, waiting for potential voters to approach him...and none ever did. Laziest campaigner ever.

This was reported five weeks ago "elsewhere".

5:42: No, it wasn't. I have the latest list that wasn't available "five weeks ago," Einstein.

5:39: I had a whole crowd of voters around me at various points during last year's Taste of Bethesda. Maybe if you weren't cowering behind a trash can you would have noticed, Boy Friday.

5:37: A timeless photo of the mayor of Bethesda.

Well of course there was a ‘crowd of voters’. Anyone over 18 is a voter or potential voter. The question is were they going to vote for you? Did they even know who you were? Did you campaign? Did you speak to the ‘crowd of voters’?

Today’s insults:
Einstein
Boy Friday

6:11: No, I mean a crowd of voters speaking with me directly. Others waiting for their turn to speak and ask my position on various issues. Some did say they were voting for me, others were making their decision.

Did you include your insults to me this morning on your list there, Boy Friday?

Did you just self-appointment yourself as “the Mayor of Bethesda”?

May I suggest you are very close to being correct! Just one letter off. Let’s just leave it at “the Mayo of Bethesda”, until Bethesda is incorporated as a city, and the majority of voters elect a real mayor.

6:35 AM Dyer is known as the "Mayor of Bethesda"

6:54 AM I know the washer guy but never heard that.

I go with Mayor Dyer...educating, informing and delighting us daily about Bethesda!

I thought Jeff Burton, as Acting Executive Director of the Bethesda Urban Partnership, was the "Mayor of Bethesda".

7:16am never heard of Burton. Dyer is certainly more well known. No offense to Burton.

Regular reminder that "likes" and "follows" are not the best metrics. They can be bought and sold. Just trying to educate you a bit!

7:34 AM Like I said, nothing against Burton, but no one knows who he is.
Bethesda UP yes, Burton no. Do you understand?

7:44 AM Looking for proof that 1 person knows who you are, Mr. Lonely Hobbit Man.

7:50 AM Why does Hobbit Man never post under his name? Still waiting for the 1 person who knows who he is...

If we had a new urban cineplex to replace the Regal, I bet 20,000 movie patrons each weekend would know about Dyer, and certainly would elect him mayor if they could. I know this because I read it in a report somewhere, but can’t recall where.

7:55 AM Lighten up, Mr. Rain Cloud aka Hobbit Man.

There is no elected Mayor of Bethesda. Dyer is called that because of his extensive knowledge of our city. He has daily reporting on Bethesda on multiple platforms. Lifelong resident too! A local guy.

This is Poke Dojo's first year as their own restaurant, but Hanaro has offered poke for the past two years at least. But I'm not sure if any of the signature bowls that are now on the menu at Poke Dojo were available...

I'm excited to try the new places!

8:03 AM Again, there is no official designation. There is no one who has to approve it. It's a fun title for a guy who is the best known restaurant reviewer in town, the only person with a daily blog focused on Bethesda, life long resident, etc.

I notice you're always waiting for permission. I give you permission to free yourself of trolling here.
Fly, troll, fly! I permit you to live your life. My gift to you, Mr. Hobbit Man.

8:07 AM "Robert seems to be a night person." "His day is night for the rest of us"

More insights from Hobbit Man. Fascinating stuff. Maybe he'll report on what Dyer is having for lunch?

8:17 AM Likewise, you make Robert Dyer the focus of your comments every day, Mr. Hobbit Man.
I'm glad you agree we should talk about Taste instead.

Looking forward to it!

10:10am "makes weird squealing noises"
= another blogger describing himself in the men's room at Lakeforest Mall. Watch your kids, folks.

Good guess that it came from a drive thru and Holy Smokers it had an aroma

11:11am yes, and everyone who reviews a qsr product only eats fast food. Ever. Because you say so.

11:55 AM "Homeless guy"? You make it sound like there is just one. There are at least two people living in the downtown Post Office in addition to the homeless seen on the streets.

Friendship Heights Metro station is right over the DC line, but looks like a homeless encampment at night. Every bench has a blanketed body spread out for the night. Not sure if this is Chevy Chase Maryland homeless finding safe space or DC.

And, no, Bethesda has only one Mayor- Robert Dyer it is. If someone else wants to step up and challenge him, please do so. Just don't be another blogger since every other Bethesda blogger has failed through the years.
