Thelo Greek Grill officially closed in Bethesda

Owner promises new location
to open December 1

Thelo Greek Grill, which was closed for dinner Tuesday evening, confirmed Wednesday that it has officially closed at 8009 Norfolk Avenue. As suspected, the closure is required because the building that holds the restaurant is going to be demolished to make way for The Clairborne, a boutique condo building.

However, the owner says the restaurant will reopen at a new Bethesda location on December 1. Stay tuned for further details as they become available.

That entire block is going to be demolished. McCormick Paint is already earmarked for redev. Woodmont Triangle will be unrecognizable.

Place had good food. Not terribly fast but it seems like the guy actually made the stuff right there as you ordered. Pretty delicious. Old, chatty gentleman. Looking forward to Dec 1.

Sorry, I missed any news on the paint store site. What is planned on that site?

It seems like a difficult triangular site to build on. It is zoned for up to 90’ along the Norfolk frontage, and 110’ for the remaining block, like a few neighboring projects.
