Another Starbucks for downtown Bethesda

It looks like Starbucks is the mystery tenant moving into the under-construction space at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue. There is an existing Starbucks across Bethesda Avenue from this property. However, a high-rise development is planned for that block in the future.

This is great news! Let’s hope it is one of their new Starbucks Reserve’s. I have visited a few of these and they are very cool! Big fireplaces, lots of dramatic terra-cotta tile accent walls, and tons of very comfortable seating. Way nicer than a normal Starbucks! I have read that they are rolling out these fancier coffee shops, mostly in premier upscale neighborhoods like Bethesda. This space looks much larger than the one across Bethesda Avenue.

I noticed that the windows of Luna on Bethesda Ave. were covered with paper this morning. Luna closed due to Covid-related restrictions on 'non-essential' businesses last year, but unlike other women's clothing stores, the store never re-opened after the restrictions were lifted. However, the merchandise remained visible through the windows. Any word on whether it is going out of business for good?

Thanks. The sign for Luna has been removed, so they are almost certainly a goner. Strange that they didn't even hold a store closing sale to recoup some of their losses. I would have purchased a lavender blouse on display at the table nearest the window.
