While Montgomery County elected officials were humiliated last month to learn that the busy Marriott International headquarters site in the Rock Spring area of Bethesda will be turned into a retirement community, the adjacent Marriott Suites hotel at 6711 Democracy Boulevard will be sticking around for the long-term. The hotel is gearing up for a major renovation of the building in the coming months.
Renovations will be performed on the lobby, restaurant, and the porte cochere. A new fountain will be installed indoors as part of the project.

I thought it was announced they would be doing a retirement community at the old Marriott headquarters a long time ago? Didn’t I read it here?
