Wells Fargo installs lights around Bethesda ATM as crime wave continues

Robberies and carjackings continue to trend upward in Montgomery County, and one downtown Bethesda bank has just made a change to improve safety around its ATM machine. Powerful floodlights have been installed around the ATM at the Wells Fargo branch at 4965 Elm Street. One is aimed directly downward over the ATM itself.

The difference in illumination can be seen in these nighttime photos; as you walk beyond the bank's storefront and new bright lights, the lighting right next door seems downright dark by comparison. It's clear the bank is concerned that its customers may be hesitant to sport a fistful of cash on the sidewalk after dark these days.

It's a disgrace how the MoCo Council tolerates the amount of crime which occurs here. Complete and total betrayal of their responsibility to the community.
