Pickpocket strikes at Westbard Giant

Montgomery County police responded to a pickpocket incident reported at the Giant grocery store at 5400 Westbard Avenue in the Westwood Shopping Center Wednesday afternoon. The theft was reported at 2:00 PM, according to crime data. Watch your wallet, and do not leave purses unattended in shopping carts.

I legitimately don't understand the mindset of people who just leave their purses unattended, their cars running, etc. Even if you're wealthy enough that the theft doesn't matter, it's still just such a pain in the ass to deal with and so easily prevented.

Rather than blaming the victim I prefer to question the "mindset" of the thief and why anyone would do that. Leftists telling groups of people that they are "oppressed" does not help and may actually encourage behavior such as this. Which is why Wokeism needs to be stamped out as Gov. DeSantis is doing.

The mindset of the thief is obvious. Your mindset of blaming "Wokeism" instead of the criminal is what's scrambled. Why is crime higher in Red states than Blue if "Wokeism" is what encourages crime? Are Red states the Woke ones, in your mind? Why does Florida have a higher crime rate than Maryland if DeSantis is doing such a great job?

Wokeism is a pathology of the left. Lefists are mostly Democrats or Socialists. They are in favor of "defunding the police", bail reform (not requiring cash bail), being soft on crime in general and against "mass incarceration". All of these policies, and others favored by the left, result in crime increases including, for example, flash mob grabs and go. The mobs operate where they know, even if they are caught, the authorities will go easy on them. Like in San Francisco, run by Democrats. Or Baltimore, again Democrats. If you continually tell group A that they are oppressed by group B, the members of group A will act out by taking stuff from group B in order to get even. Is this the case in every crime? No, but these policies encourage law breaking behaviors which add to the overall problem. Wokeism is wrong and harmful on many levels and I am doing my part, because I love my country, to bring this to the attention of the general public.

Looks like 8:40 AM is triggered by the most successful governor in the the US. Violent cities run by Democrats skew state statistics. What are so many Democrats running away from their own policies as we close in for the midterms? Hope you can find your safe-space in November.

Right. Alaska, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, etc. are all the most crime-ridden states because they're filled with "violent cities run by Democrats." Congratulations on knowing literally nothing about America.

2:18 I can see you drank that whole pitcher of Kool-Aid.

Hey 2:18, the illogical absurdity of your argument is exceeded only by the smug certainty with which you propound it.

Don't bother to look at the most violent cities in the country. All fully run by Democrats. Your hero Lori Lightfoot was just asked "how she can possibly run for reelection after all the harm she's done". Keep watching CNN/MSNBC etal and lean nothing about the real world. So many talking points yet so little knowledge, how sad.

Lori Lightfoot? Ron DeSantis? Wokeism? CNN? What on earth are you people talking about? Some random incident of petty theft and y'all run through the dumbest set of RNC talking points imaginable. We all live here because we know it's nicer than most. Grow up and do something better with your weekend, for god's sake.

Dem policy: We are going to get rid of fossil fuels by doing everything we can to make it more difficult for energy companies to produce them. Result: energy prices spike sky high. Gaslight: It's Putin's fault.
Dem policy: we are going to defund the police and make the lives of criminals much easier. Result: crime increases exponentially. Gaslight: It's Republican's fault.
Dem policy: we are going to double down on identity politics, divide one group against another by race, sex, etc. Result: polarization, hate crime hoaxes, generalized angst. Gaslight: It's Trump, DeSantis and the "deplorables" fault.

Another common theme out of liberal run cites: DC has decided NOT TO PROSECUTE 4-adults and 3-juveniles arrested at an apartment found with an AR-15, pistol, ammunition and drugs. Oh and these were the perpetrators who committed ARMED ROBBERY with a firearm when they robbed two separate couples and stole their dogs. They did recover one of the dogs but the DA cut them loose.

Even IF you can't connect them to the robbery, (even though they had possession of one of the dogs), doe that make the weapons & drug charges go away? Democrats love to make laws that only the law abiding have to obey. Meanwhile in the real world, those criminals are actual people benefitting from privilege and will continue to commit crimes for which there are no consequences.

8:20 PM can't connect the dots between obvious examples of bad policy, (like 4:58 AM has illustrated), and liberal talking points. There's more crime in Bethesda now because the people you voted for couldn't care less about the citizens, (at least the law abiding ones).

Hey 8:20 I noticed you took time out from your busy day to criticize us. Don't know about you but I'm moving to Florida cause MoCo is a one-party-rule clusterfark. I'm tired of paying for a never ending flood of illegal immigrants. If anyone is "dumb" its your man Brandon, senile to boot. The country has had to suffer from continual disasters since Jan 2021. Things will change though.

Enjoy Florida! A state with more crime, more illegal immigrants, more poverty, and more cockroaches. Walt Disney says "hi, sucker! Enjoy your twilight years!"

"We are going to get rid of fossil fuels"

Domestic oil production is higher now than under Trump.

"crime increases exponentially"

The gigantic increase in violent crime - the largest jump in modern American history - occurred in 2020. Guess who was president in 2020.

"polarization"

wtf. Okay, now I'm thinking actively trolling Trump supporters.

I will because Republican governance is much, much better than the alternative. I want to live somewhere Wokeism is kicked to the curb and Florida is that place. I certainly won't be living in poverty and the immigrants, mostly Cubans, are anti-communists because they know the evils of it. Hope Disney packs up and leaves because Disney sucks. Don't know about you but I don't want my grandchildren "queered."

7:30 PM has the full MSM delusion syndrome and telling lies over and over doesn't equate to the truth.

Of course when oil was cheap in 2020, Democrats under Schumer were proud not to replenish the SPR. How's that working out now that oil is over $100/bbl?

7:30, Higher now than 2017 but lower than 2018-2020. Which party wants to do away with fossil fuels? Which party is it that wanted to defund the police but now is having to walk that back? Which party was in charge when inflation rose to 40 year high?. Which party is allowing record numbers of illegal immigrants? DEMS. So "troll" that. Maybe try to get your info somewhere other than CNN, NPR and MSNBC.
