Construction of the new Westbard Square development at the Westwood Shopping Center in Bethesda is still in the very early stages. It looks like some of the first underpinnings of the "square" in Westbard Square - the town square - are taking shape. Walls of an adjacent cinderblock structure have risen about 9 rows of bricks high at the Regency Centers-owned property.
The new Giant building isn't above ground level yet, but is the central piece of Phase 1 of the Westbard Square project. All businesses at the shopping center remain open during the construction.
