It was a mostly peaceful robbery.

Yep. There was another incident not long ago in front of Rodman's not too far down from there where a woman was robbed and car jacked in broad daylight. Need to be aware and carry non-lethal weapon.

Small point, but it was actually the 4700 block of Willard Avenue. That makes it no less violent or offensive, just marking it for the record.

After living in Bethesda for more than 2 decades, I moved to another state earlier this year, and the sale of my Bethesda residence closed yesterday. I always planned to retire to another state, but the increasing frequency of Robert's posts on car thefts and armed robberies were among the factors that prompted me to speed up the process. Rising crime is not confined to Bethesda, but property taxes are lower and there is no income tax in my new state, so at least I won't have to pay high taxes for protection and other public services that I'm not getting anyway.

So glad you are happier elsewhere as well as safer. Please support the men and women in blue wherever you go! The people in DC and NY will someday come to realize that they killed the goose that was laying the golden eggs by not supporting a robust police force. Tell Ron DeSantis I said hi!

@9:02 AM: Ask a Progressive about this. They came up with it.

@10:24 AM: Congrats on the move, but you'll be paying for those taxes some other way.

@10:11 & 10:42AM: Florida isn't the only state with no income tax, and I don't like humidity. And the cost of public services where I moved is partly covered by another revenue source.
