Bethesda Detailers to move as current building will be demolished

A demolition permit has been requested for the building currently home to Bethesda Detailers at 4725 Cheltenham Drive. The business will relocate to the Chevy Chase Acura property on the other side of Cheltenham by the end of August. Their current location will be redeveloped as a residential building following the demolition. It was previously home to Midas.

What about the current CVS? I assume that's being torn down as well because God forbid you have a surface lot and an easy time getting into any store.

Losing that CVS would be bad. It's the only 24 hour one in the Bethesda area currently after Arlington Road reduced their hours.

Montgomery County already announced that some small 2 and 3 story apt / condo buildings will be built on some of these small lots east of Wisconsin Ave. None of the lots are right up on Wisc Ave. They are all at least a half a block east……..

The CVS is not affected by all this. It is just some small 2 and 3 story apt / condo buildings that will be sandwiched in to some of what are now county parking lots and certain buildings that are slated to be demolished like the one we are talking about. But the CVS Stays so not to worry !

This site was fully approved last year for a nine story high multifamily apartment building, without any retail, or any on site parking. The 102 proposed units are mostly very compact as studios of junior one bedroom units with interior bedrooms, and likely will be quite affordable. 15% will be MPDU’s. There is a large roof terrace and an adjacent shared amenity space on the tenth floor, but no pool. Those that choose to own a car will be directed to park in the underused county parking deck across the street. This project does not include the CVS drugstore or parking lot.

Nice to see some development on the east side of Wisconsin. Many more are approved or in the pipeline for approval from 7 to 9 stories tall. This will be a nice transitional step-down buffer between the single family homes in East Bethesda and the much taller high-rises west of Wisconsin.

Not sure why you'd say that. I'm sure long term residents there would disagree. How about putting a stop to the madness and let the county digest all the new building that's occurred?
