Harwood Flats, a new apartment building at 5454 Nicholson Lane in the White Flint area of North Bethesda, has opened and has welcomed its first residents. Like most buildings, floors are opening for leasing as the interiors of the apartments are completed. Initially, units on floors 1 and 2 have been available. You have the added nostalgia bonus of living along one of the former access roads to the late, great White Flint Mall. Still to be determined - tenants for the ground floor retail space; it's great that developer Foulger-Pratt actually included some retail in this project.

With sweeping vistas of the derelict Lord & Taylor, the White Flint Plaza parking lot, and Jiffy Lube.
Just a note to those considering a lease at this building. I highly recommend leasing a top floor unit, as wood frame buildings like this have notoriously poor sound insulation between floors. Especially now that many lack carpeting, and opt for luxury vinyl or hardwood laminate floors. Side to side sound separation is the same as more robust cast in place concrete construction, but you can easily hear folks moving around above you in wood frame construction. And of course TV and music, especially using subwoofers, is easily transmitted from vibrations through the floor.
Don't live on the north side or you'll get bus fumes 24/7 from the WMATA Yard.
@7:21 AM: That's good advice.
Everything about this building is unappealing.
@7:21 -- What you said. I spent close to 30 years in such a building, and the noise of upstairs neighbors clomping around nearly drove me 'round the bend.
