International snacks at Avenue Cafe in Bethesda

Packaged snacks from around the world are available at Avenue Cafe at 4924-A Del Ray Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Many of the packages and logos will look familiar to American snackers, but the flavors are rarely ones made available for domestic sale in the United States. For example, the cafe sells Frito-Lay's Pringles competitor STAX, but in a Spicy Lobster flavor.

Avenue Cafe is one of the few businesses open very late (2:00 AM, 3:00 AM Fridays & Saturdays) in Bethesda, following the Montgomery County Council's disastrous "nighttime economy" initiative that ended up tanking the nighttime economy. Making it the perfect place to pick up an unusual late night snack. The cafe also serves fresh food, and has a hookah lounge.

This sounds like a great addition to the neighborhood. I'm planning to stop by.

You had me right up to "hookah lounge.' Just certain harbingers that don't bode well. Libs, unleash your fury!
