Subway "coming soon" to Montgomery Mall in Bethesda

Subway
is "coming soon" to Westfield Montgomery Mall, signage just installed at its future space in the Dining Terrace food court promises. I broke the news that sandwich artists will soon be preparing America's favorite sub sandwiches at the mall back in September 2024. Subway replaces longtime tenant J. Chow in the food court. Construction on the conversion of J. Chow to Subway is now getting started behind the wall, and the signage promises a spring 2025 opening.

Subway, where their ‘bread’ was found to use an ingredient used in yoga mats and their ‘tuna’ wasn’t even tuna according to DNA tests. But go ahead and be excited about this.

It's absolutely disgusting and there's many, many articles written about how bad for you their ingredients are. Sorry, but it's total garbage and I was bummed to see the sign there the other day. To be fair, most of the rest at the food court is crap with a couple of exceptions but not many sadly.

Now that Anchor Babies aren't going to work, I bet the employee pool will dry up.

Couldn’t agree more. Terrible addition to an already awful lineup.

I think of their bread and meats being infused with plastics. Regardless, after 15 minutes you're hungry again. Awful food.

I looked into the "no tuna" claim. Evidently it was based on the PCR testing. PCR testing on processed- heated- acid treated things can be unreliable. Likely Bumblebee would be "negative" too. The lawsuit was dismissed.

You assume fastfood will be the cheapest version of the ingredient that they can get though. Maybe Tuna innards or something.

Subway still has a fan base for some reason.
Are they less expensive than alternatives? The only reason I can think of.

Sounds like a Yogi Berra quote but I know no one that would ever eat there, but there's usually a line.

Haha, at least half of the workers at the two Subways I seldom go to are always pregnant! Lots of construction guys usually hanging around. Interesting!
