The things you see on a Woodmont Avenue sidewalk after a snowstorm (Photos)

A number of odd sightings were made on Woodmont Avenue Saturday, after the overnight snowstorm, between Fairmont and Cordell Avenues. Water pouring onto the sidewalk from a drain in a wall at the 8001 Woodmont apartment building had frozen into a waterfall of ice, and was cordoned off by a pair of JBG SMITH cones for safety purposes.

Amazon packages had been left on the front step of the vacant former Sir Walter Raleigh restaurant building at 8011 Woodmont. And some of the building's street numbers - the 0 and a 1 - have been pried off.

Finally, the vacant properties along Woodmont - including 8011 - that are now owned by the developer of the stalled Artena Bethesda project were again forcing their way into the news. The clear sidewalk of the southern portion of the block gave way to a narrow, one-person pathway in front of the Artena lots. That's not wide enough to meet ADA standards, much less for two able-bodied people to pass each other without someone stepping onto the ice and slush.

Re Sidewalks and snow. Try walking to FH on the sidewalk on Wisconsin! There ought to be a law! Wait a minute, there is!

Pretend it's a one-lane bridge like you'd find on MacArthur Blvd.

Thanks. I’m hoping JBG Smith will have a useful comment on the ice.
The rest are interesting as well.

So, for those of you comment professionally or clog the blog with data, facts or the same mantra over and over about "crime", how does it make you feel that a thug was on the street on Wisconsin Ave in Bethesda-Chevy Chase with a loaded handgun? Just walking all over and around town. Right across from a busy Panera, right next to a TrueFood/JosABank. Right in the middle of it all. How many are currently circling like electrons as we speak? He targeted that Camaro but was "hiding" in plain sight. Did he walk, get dropped off or live in one of the MPDU's around town? Those whom are not concerned need not comment, I want to hear from real people with thoughts, concerns and emotions. YES, this WHY we all need to conceal carry without result oriented complications from the court system here in the MoCo.

6:55: As someone who has been examining local crime data on a daily basis for well over a decade, I can say that since the many new apartments with MPDUs opened, you much more often see "Bethesda" as the residence of suspects arrested in local crimes. There's been a notable trend of that especially over the last 12 months. It's now hard to dispute that low (or "moderate") income housing increases crime. I was somewhat skeptical of this myself, but the facts have convinced me now. Ironically, prior to the new buildings opening, most Bethesda suspects arrested in the past were living in Westwood Tower - also low-income.

6:55 - Amen to that! I have followed the efforts of MSI (MD Shall Issue) for years as well as SCOTUS cases that establish precedent. Somehow, I must have missed the fact that MoCo residents can now, finally, carry? Is that accurate? One only needs to complete the HQL and then will be granted a carry permit? Please confirm it correct. Thank you!

Did asterisks * exist when our Constitution was signed? "....shall not be infringed*."

*except in Democrat led crime ridden cities and states.

Guess so....
