Pig roast, bourbon tasting at Pike & Rose block party today in N. Bethesda

Today from noon to 4:00 PM at Pike & Rose, enjoy the first of several block parties planned this year at the new and growing Federal Realty community. Entry is free, but there is also a pig roast for which you can order tickets online, or pay $25 at the door today.

Bourbon lovers who buy pig roast tickets will also receive entry to a complimentary bourbon tasting (age 21+) at Stella Barra. They'll be pouring several selections, including their house infused Bacon & Maple Cinnamon bourbon, and Honey Vanilla with Peche bourbon.

While you're there, take advantage of sidewalk sales at Pike & Rose retailers like Yogaso, Gap, Lucky Brand, Francesca's, and Seasons Olive Oil and Vinegar Taproom. AMP by Strathmore will host live performances by Darren Beachly and Potomac (1:00 PM) and Brooks Long & the Mad Dog No Good (3:00 PM).

There will be giveaways and demos from NAVA Health, Sport & Health, AMP by Strathmore, PR at Partners Salon, Pallas Apartments and Penthouses. Activities for kids will include face painting, balloon twisting and a roaming photo booth.

Even if roast pig isn't your thing, there will be plenty of food from Summer House, Stella Barra Pizzeria, Del Frisco’s Grille, City Perch, Roti, &pizza and Carluccio’s, as well as a selection of beer and wine.

IPic is nice. I think it's better than Arclight.

Did anybody go?

7:24, yes, it was the usual P&R banal street carnival which consisted of the FedReal merchants and promos for the residential developments it owns. The ticket price allowed you to unlimited (Dyer style) sample tastings of food and a sampling of flavoured Bourbons. As for the Pig Roast, HA! I saw no spit mounted carcass, that one would expect to see, and when questioned about the roast I was told that was provided by the Rockland BBQ table. Nothing against trucked in, tasty bbq, but I consider this false advertising. Amp provided a nice variety of musical entertainment as usual throughout the day.

I was there early and they had to move the pig. Some kind of problem they said. But for a free event it was fun and a nice day out. Then we saw a movie at iPic which is nicer than going to Arclight.

It was fun especially considering it was free if you didn't get the food and there were plenty of freebies and the weather was nice.

Glad to see FRIT doing these types of events to help out their retailers.
