First renderings of Bethesda Community Store expansion (Photos)

The first images of the planned expansion of the vacant Bethesda Community Store show an expanded retail space on two levels. Retail square footage will rise to 2500 SF; 1000 at ground level, and 1500 in a new basement level that will not run underneath the existing historic building.

15 parking spaces will be on-site for whatever new business leases it. It appears parking will alongside the building. The design and leasing are being handled by Bethesda-based Streetsense. Cost-per-square-foot is not revealed yet. The property is located at 8804 Old Georgetown Road just north of Suburban Hospital.

BBQ, burgers, subs, coffee could be great here. The landlord would be wise to lease it to someone who knows what the heck they're doing though. 15 years with previous owner who knew nothing is a long time. I guess all they want is their rent and could care less if their tenant fails or not. Successful business means stable rent however.

@ 8:25 AM - Go back to bed, Trumptard. You're still drunk.

And the conservatives will build a fence around it and arm themselves to keep the Mexicans out.

They better hurry up with construction and a decent tenant. They have Branded 72 up there which used to be O'Brian's Pit BBQ. Why did they change their name? By either name, their bbq is crap too.

The BBQ trailer that was there was quite average, but still did great during lunchtime, due to all the contractors and landscapers who needed a quick and cheap place to grab a bite. There aren't many options in Bethesda (same goes for the crappy pizza/sub place in Glen Echo -- no other choices, so they do well).

If they do something similar there, but elevate the food quality, they'll do great. Heck, next door is that huge renovation project for Suburban which will be going on for years -- plenty of customers for the lunch rush.

12:25 PM Hooters should move down 355 to the Bethesda Theater space. I heard it may be available soon.

1:22 PM - You wouldn't know that if you read Dyer. Fortunately Bethesda's news site of record has reported that.

Hooters is so 1990s.

What Bethesda really needs is a Tallywacker's.

Did Dyer ask permission?

1:51 PM Biz Journal first reported it. But Bethesda Magazine didn't disclose that they have part ownership of the failed club. Why not?

12:25: More spam from Bethesda's failing website trying to steal my readers. Pathetic.
