Westwood Wednesday tonight at Westwood Shopping Center in Bethesda

Westwood Wednesdays continue tonight, June 22, at the Westwood Shopping Center in Bethesda. It seems that property owner Equity One is expanding the event as the weeks go on. In addition to the food truck and usual live music and games, there are also two other family-friendly activities planned.

First, kids will be able to paint terra cotta pots and plant their own vegetables, thanks to guest Mighty Mole Gardens. “My goal is to get families—and especially young children—into growing veggies at home,” says owner Erin Joshi.

A second guest will be an organization very local to the Westbard area. Brit-Am Soccer Academy staff will be on hand from 6:00-7:00 PM tonight to test the skills of both younger and older kids. They teach everyone from the age of 18 months old to high school seniors. The Butler Road-based academy was founded in 1999 by former English professional soccer player Steve Knapman, who played against stars like David Beckham in his early years.

Music tonight will be performed by Ken Fischer, specializing in acoustic rock and blues. Games will include cornhole, ladder ball and ring toss.

Everything is free at the event, except for the food, which tonight will be served up by the Say Cheese! food truck. Create your own gourmet grilled cheese sandwich, and try their salads, wings, and ice cream. There are picnic tables available for dining.

Westwood Wednesdays run from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the parking lot near Rite Aid.

Thanks Equity One. You are a great neighbor.

10:30 - Why would you post that? Why do you follow up a reasonable comment with a vulgar comment? Do you think it makes your post more believable less believable?
How do you personally feel about the Wednesday night festivities? Would you avoid going because who is paying for it?

Knew there would be at least one comment criticizing the developer for doing this. Of course they have a motive. Who cares. It's not like people are going to blindly support them all the sudden.

It's like when people criticize corporations and wealthy people for the philanthropic efforts that come after a controversy

Chris Matthews is getting a thrill up his leg over Westwood Wednesdays.

So much for "food trucks down 90% in Bethesda".

7:41: This is on private property - the disappearance of 96% of food trucks was from public streets, where they were banned by Hans Riemer. You'll find the few that are left at private property events like this. Wake up.

Banning food trucks from downtown Bethesda was another brilliant move from Dan Hoffman and Reamer.

Not exactly the brightest guys in MoCo.

Hans Riemer "banned food trucks from public streets"? He single-handedly passed a new law? He issued an executive order? And only 96%? Why not 100%? Are those 4% operating illegally?

Also, I love the way your shill dutifully echoes your talking points just 13 minutes later, long after everyone else has gone to bed.

No wonder Bethesda has no night-time economy.
Everyone has gone to bed by 11:39. Well, according to 5:59AM, everyone except "The Shill."
That explains everything!!!

7:11am I know, right?

5:59am: I think it was Dan Hoffman's brilliant project to tell food trucks where to go- anywhere but downtown Bethesda apparently.

These are the types of epic projects Leggett gives his highly paid Chief Innovation Officer. Sounds more like a project that a summer intern should be working on, not a C-level person in county government.
