Element 28 apartments greet Spring in Bethesda with a green thumb

The glowing leaf sculpture that brought a green theme to the front of the new Element 28 apartments in the dead of winter is now sprouting for real. With Spring arriving in Bethesda, live plants are emerging from the soil in the sculpture's base. Branding in the windows is also playing up the plant angle, with green leaves pointing the way to the building's leasing office.

Element 28 is located at 100 Commerce Lane, across from the Bethesda Metro station.

That "glowing leaf" sculpture is an abomination.

They should plant tall hedges all around it to hide it from view.

Hey! That's not a "thumb".

Pervert.

"live plants are emerging from the soil "

Because dead plants emerging from the soil is so common

So, is this building good or bad? I mean, it's just more housing continuing to make MoCo a bedroom community...what a disaster this building opening will be for the county...

It's a cool building. I appreciate that we choices. It's certainly different and the leaf is eye-catching and bright, which is a nice change from the more drab stuff around town.

Kind of disappointed that they haven't filled the first floor retail. We knew that True Food Kitchen was going in on Wisconsin months before the building opened, but they didn't line up anything for this building.

Another observation: the stone pavers around that garage entrance/art piece are set really far apart - someone's going to get a heel stuck in between while walking by and break an ankle.

Well put, though.

Another thing - there is no driveway for the building. So folks will have to stand on the side of the road to get cab/Uber

Agree with 8:23. I actually like the building architecture. Of course, anywhere else it would be considered par for the course, but for Bethesda it's a huge "leaf" forward (sorry couldn't resist).

Can we install another "where the arts come alive" sculpture in front of the leaf - that would be great.
