Thundersnow in Bethesda

Thundersnow has returned to the DC area, thanks to the Blizzard of 2016, A long blast of thunder roared over Bethesda around 6:15 AM this morning. It didn't sound like thunder during a summer thunderstorm. There is a report of lightning, as well.

Stay tuned for further updates on Winter Storm Jonas as it passes through Bethesda here on the blog, and on Twitter at @BethesdaRow.

Heard it here in Rockville too! With a flash of light preceding it.

@ 3:34 AM - that's called "lightning",

I'm laughing at the troll whose comment I deleted, a loser trying to spam for another website that didn't even have the report on thundersnow in Bethesda.

Thunder during a severe snow storm isn't all that unusual. While it's interesting, I seriously doubt that most folks won't remember it as a defining aspect of Jonas.

7:36: It's one defining aspect of the storm - people are still talking about the thundersnow in past years.

6:42. I know that, I was indoors and saw a flash of light in the dark.

@ 7:36AM: Speak for yourself. Was so glad I woke up to hear it.
Don't tell weather channel's Jim Cantore that. He loves his thundersnow.
Did you see the pics of it from Scott Kelly in space? Very slick.
