What's going on in the old Bubbles space on Wisconsin Avenue? (Photos)

There's been some activity recently in the former Bubbles salon space at 7475 Wisconsin Avenue, in the Bethesda Crescent building. Now fitness equipment has appeared, as well as a building permit for that address - 7475 Wisconsin - from the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services.

Here's the interesting part - the equipment and permit are for Bridges Fitness and Yoga, which was supposed to be opening in the historic U.S. Post Office across the street last fall. Hmm.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't look like much progress was being made on the old post office.

Interesting. Maybe they decided to change spots? What did the landlord or gym reps say when you reached out for comment?

Thanks for the answer. Careful though, Dyer may take down your link (even though it answers his own question that he didn't follow up on)

Robert Dyer said...

6:58: True, nothing personal. I actually broke the story.

Robert Dyer said...

I don't quite get the idea of people who prefer old news warmed up to breaking news. But that microwave's been beeping all week.

So you raised the question and someone answered it. And you delete their answer. Hahahahahhahha

Would you delete a link to a Washington Post article that answered a question you asked in your blog post?

Anonymous said...

What was wrong with that comment? The fact I mentioned BM is the one that provided an answer to your question?

Robert Dyer said...

11:37: My article answered it 2 days earlier. A "pop-up" by definition doesn't require construction and alterations. They've clearly changed plans. Give me credit where credit is due for tracking this story down. Unless you prefer *Beep beep beep* Reheated News - Even better than fresh!

3:30: Sorry, just laughing hysterically thinking about the last time the Washington Post ever reported any hyperlocal news about Bethesda. They never even covered it when they had a full blown Montgomery County bureau, much less now. "ROFL"

it's asinine you remove posts with links providing information to your readers. That is censorship at is best! Birdbrain!

Anonymous said...

Yes you broke the news but the other news source answered your own question about what's going on in relation to the post office spot.

So it's strange that you would delete the link to the answer to your own question.

Anonymous said...

Your own article title asks what is going on, implying you don't know.

The magazine that shall not be named asked your question to the proprietor and that's the official answer. If you don't believe them that's one thing. But to delete a comment with a link to an answer to your very own question is just spiteful and unethical.

I'll read it in Bethesda Magazine... a few months from now in my dentist's waiting room.
Will the yoga studio buy enough Magazine advertising to receive a "Best of Bethesda" award?

I agree. Dyer just deletes anything he wants on his own site. Sure he's allowed but it shows how he can't be trusted as a person much less a journalist much less a public official.

Anonymous said...

More proof that Dyer doesn't seek answers. Just publicity.

This is not someone I would want running our government.

Robert Dyer said...

5:08: You just described Hans Riemer. Now 6:04 must dutifully say, "Hans Riemer is not someone I would want running our government."

Robert Dyer said...

7:42: Not any more strange than them not citing my earlier report as the source. The "official" explanation kind of reminds me of the Pizza Pass report. Turned out my earlier report was the accurate one. Critical thinking is a must in journalism. Politics, inside baseball, and ideology can take you only so far.

Robert Dyer said...

8:28: Pass me the Car and Driver while you're at it.

Anonymous said...

In pretty sure I'm 6:04 and I was talking about Robert Dyer. :)

Anonymous said...

Guess the people spoke and elected Riemer and not Dyer.

Anonymous said...

You are so weird. Your entire post was about the "mystery" and "what's going on"

Anonymous said...

Okay I used to side with Robert once in a while but now I have lost all respect. This blog post posed the question of what's going on and another site answered the question. These deletions have gotten to be simply for callous personal reasons and there is no hiding behind comment policy violations anymore. Sorry Robert, you have lost a loyal reader and supporter on this one.

Anonymous said...

Same. I have lost all respect for Dyer with this. Deleting posts for vindictive and shallow reasons. The commenter was answering your question with an outside source. That's just wrong to delete. I cannot support Dyer any longer.

Robert Dyer said...

7:44: There's Riemer on Fox5 posing as Man of the People, when he's actually defending the same County liquor monopoly as the County flyers! That's why he got elected - low information voters and an obsequious local media.

Robert Dyer said...

11:32/2:08: And you haven't lost respect for the "other website" for stealing a story without citing my original article?

If you think deleting spam links designed to divert traffic to competing websites is unusual, you must have been under a rock since the 90s. Spamming is a common violation of website policies.

Is Aaron still in the trees on the BCC campus tonight? He was spotted there earlier with a camera.

Aaron, please come down. You're creeping out the students!

Anonymous said...

How do you know they stole it? They could have walked by the sign just the same as you. Sure you were first but that's not proof of stealing.

Anonymous said...

What does that even mean?

Robert Dyer said...

4:35: There is no sign.

Robert Dyer said...

8:20: So rather than build out the Post Office they were supposed to have opened in last fall, they're leaving that sit while paying rent on it, and building out another space at additional rent, time and expense across the street? Does that make sense to you? Mystery, indeed. Give me credit where credit is due.

Anonymous said...

You have a picture of a posted building permit.

Anonymous said...

I mean that's what your post says "what's going on"?

Anonymous said...

I have to say I agree with some of these other readers. Any respect or good will Robert Dyer earned is all gone now. This is just silly now. Vindictive. Childish. Etc.

Robert Dyer said...

9:56: I'm laughing at one guy trying to post under multiple personalities to appear that there is a mutiny going on. The desperate lengths people will go to - it's just ridiculous.

Robert Dyer said...

7:55: Yeah, and we still don't have a credible answer to that question. I think my analysis in this article is as close as we're going to get for the moment.

Robert Dyer said...

7:54: That's a permit, not a sign.

It makes perfect sense to me. These are the types of desperate measures that small business in the County must undertake due to Hans Reimer and the failure of the Nighttime Economy Initiative.

Robert Dyer said...

True, Bill, true. We need a new County Council - FAST.

Playing a game of semantics now are we. Good for you. Good for you.

Anonymous said...

And one supposes you have proof of that as well. Lol.

Anonymous said...

Robert - you should run! I like a lot of your ideas.

Robert Dyer said...

*Beep beep beep* You can always go elsewhere for reheated, rewritten versions of my stories, if semantics are too challenging for you. #BabaBooey

Robert Dyer said...

5:34: Stay tuned.

Good, with "so many" of you being done with Robert and the blog, the trash talk should lessen a bit.
You know, with ALL the different dissenting posters. Yeah, they're all separate people, yeah...that's it.
I have a vision of a guy surrounded by monitors sliding his chair from keyboard to keyboard to argue with himself. Hahahaha. Great image for a dreary Thursday. Thanks!

He won't win. Not with the way he treats people and ideas that aren't inline with his.

Anonymous said...

It's the same with the Dyer supporters. Just as many people.

Anonymous said...

9:21am you do know George Leventhal acts like a total jerk with County staff who aren't "in line" with his ideas, right? The Post has reported extensively on his bad behavior.

Robert Dyer said...

9:21: Nope - I've actually been told, in person, by multiple readers that they comment on here. Real people, not just an Anonymous guy posing as "multiple" readers like the troll here.

Anonymous said...

Like anyone takes your word at this point. :(

Robert Dyer said...

4:17: They'll take my word over yours - you have zero credibility as an anonymous troll who doesn't have the guts to put your name to your comments.

Anonymous said...

And how many wins do you have in the polls for county council against Riemer?

Robert Dyer said...

7:31: And how many checks does Riemer have from Mitt Romney's Bain Capital, Mitch Rales' Danaher Corporation (two pioneers in outsourcing American jobs to China + one of Danaher's closed factories was Maryland), Wall Street crooks, Wall Street banks and mortgage sharks that caused the great recession, and developers?
