Philz Coffee opening Wednesday at Bethesda Row

The long-awaited opening of Philz Coffee at 7247 Woodmont Avenue will finally be here tomorrow, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 7:00 AM. They will be open daily from 7 to 7 PM. Unlike Starbucks, there are no lattes, cappuccinos, espressos or pre-brewed coffees. They recommend trying a cup of Philz Way coffee, medium sweet with cream, as your first sample of Philz Coffee.

Philz will also sell hot breakfast items such as their Green Chile & Cheese Burrito and Bacon & Cheese Burrito, scones and muffins, cookies and bars, bagels and handmade toast options. The 2535 SF store will additionally offer tea, spices, coffee by the pound and gifts.

So excited! Let's just get some of that California weather here and we'll be all set! No fires though lol. Sorry if that was insensitive. I can't go back and delete it now. Have a great day everybody - see you at Phil's 4 some lattes!

Closes at 7 PM every day?

Our Local Nighttime Economy dies another death.

"MoCo cartel ramming through bill..."

"Eric Luedtke (D - District 14) has quietly filed Bill MC 6-19 in Annapolis"

Which is it, Dyer?

According to their website, the Bethesda store will be open from 6AM to 8PM M-F and 7AM to 7PM on the weekends. Still being only open til 8PM or 7PM seems early for a coffee shop, especially one that serves food. A great choice after a movie at Landmark or a day shopping in town, for a coffee and a dessert, but not if they close so early.

Perhaps they will open later after they get underway.

6:17 AM Hey Warren Buffett, are you sure that amount of night traffic justifies the costs of keeping the store open and staffed?

Thanks I'll hang up and listen.

6:17: 7 to 7 is what Philz told me directly.

6:22 AM Yup, night foot traffic is way down since the Regal closed.
Dyer has reporting on that.

WTOP's article was much better. Worth waiting 61 minutes. Quality can't be rushed.

7:44: Your lack of self-awareness is off the charts. The article you cite has none of the photos available here, from Bethesda's leading hyperlocal news source.

"Bethesda's leading hyperlocal news source."

8:01am I'm not a aware of another hyperlocal site just focused on Bethesda.

Is Roberto Dyer even in this country legally? I'm not so sure.

Looking forward to piping hot coffee, and reading breaking Bethesda news!

1:22 PM Agreed! I'll be in Philz tomorrow morning, reading Dyer's news and enjoy a hot cup.

Today was apparently a "soft opening"... They were closed and "in a meeting" at 3:00pm.

Remember when Robert Dyer told voters not to vote for any of the other three Republicans running for County Council At-Large?

@6:17 AM - I doubt it...their location in Adams Morgan also closes around 7PM. If they won't stay open late in Adams Morgan they for sure won't be in downtown Bethesda.

#Scooped!

Interesting comments over there...

"A few doors away from Joe and the Juice? Usually a landlord doesn't put similar stores that close. Most commercial leases limit what businesses can be in the same project. Nothing to do with what is close with a different landlord. But Federal Realty doesn't care about their tenants.

"Fed Realty used to protect their lessors. This is another clear example, IMHO, that they care only about their bottom line. Why Quartermaine's or Joe's endures it is a mystery even after FRIT has the audacity to install Pieology, which they own, next to Mamma Lucia? This isn't sustainable for all."

Minimalist decor is trash. It feels cold and uninviting. I'm sick of eating in places that feel like a 1970's hospital lobby with no celing. Bring back warm and cozy with TONS of decorations!
