Efforts to modify the historic Bethesda Community Store to attract a rental tenant appear to have failed. The venerable landmark at 8804 Old Georgetown Road is now back on the market. According to an online real estate listing, the asking price is $1.1 million.
For that price, the buyer gets high visibility and high automobile traffic volume. He or she will also get the limitations that come with ownership of an historic property, but with the potential to make the less-visible modifications outlined in the recent plans. Were this a "teardown," the land alone would go for several times the current asking price.

Now if JCPenney would just bring back yet another icon: their famous Fox polo shirt. When I asked the corporate office, they told me they currently have no plans to bring back that elite country club staple of the 1980s.

JCPenney shirts were "an elite country club staple" when you were just a wee Boomer?
Really, what "country club" was that? Perhaps you're thinking of the public golf course at Sligo Creek?

3:07: A real boomer calling a Gen Xer a "boomer" - LOL, ok boomer.
I understand that as a lifelong bum you are not familiar with country club attire. Fortunately your man David Moon is trying to run them all out of business, so you won't have to worry about it in a few years when they're all gone.

Still stuck in the 1980s? Pathetic.
Did Robbie get a video of the emotional sign-off from the employees of the Westwood Rite Aid when it closed forever 3 1/2 hours ago?
It's historic yes but it can be picked up and moved then redeveloped. Even then, the site is limited due to size. If they move it, where would it be moved to is the real question.
