Construction inside the future Anthony's Coal-Fired Pizza in the 7770 Norfolk Avenue apartment tower continues at a deliberate pace. In the meantime, the company begs pizza-crazed passersby to "allow us to introduce ourselves." New signage details what is so special about the pizzeria's coal-fired ovens, handmade dough, imported Italian tomatoes and Wisconsin mozzarella.
Notably missing from the signs is pizzeria investor and legendary Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino. Football fans are still placing their bets as to whether Marino will make an appearance at the grand opening next year.

I'm waiting for Apizza at Montgomery Mall, will blow this away.
Do they use only fresh local coal mined from West Virginia? Do they contribute to a fund to pay for their miner's lung treatments?
Next year notably missing will be this restaurant.
Welcome to the neighborhood!
Moribund!!!!
"Some toxic constituents that are found in coal are arsenic, boron, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, lead, lithium, mercury, molybdenum, selenium, silica, thallium, thorium, and uranium, as well as phenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and heterocyclic compounds."
We proudly welcome this proud pizza pie chain.
Hmm, so why was my comment removed in response to the person above who is fear-mongering on the chemical makeup of coal?
What if none of the passersby are pizza-crazed, or respond to posters that beg on the street in the middle of the night?
Then they are shit-out-of-luck.
Have you contacted any residents of 7770 Norfolk to find how they feel about being exposed to coal smoke?
Add this to the para about Dan Marino: "Marino has participated in the grand openings of several Anthony's restaurants."

Look at all that extra value in your pizza at no extra cost!
It's not that type of coal and is legal in MoCo believe it or not
Coal fired pizza ovens require Anthracite coal, which is found almost exclusively in Western Pennsylvania, not the more common type of coal found in West Virginia. It is actually very clean in terms of pollutants. It does however, just like wood fired pizza ovens, emit greenhouse gases.
Coal fired pizza is traditional in NYC and New Haven.
Your comment will be deleted because you mentioned New Haven. Any mention of other pizza places, especially legendary ones, will be deleted by the author.
New Haven is a city, not a pizza place.
