Demolition underway inside former PassionFish space in Bethesda (Photos)

It's sad to see sledgehammers taken to the beautiful, ocean-themed interior of the vacant PassionFish space in the ground floor of The Darcy condos in downtown Bethesda. Expensive interior design and decor has been gutted, giving way to a non-restaurant use. While the new tenant has hidden its name so far, rumor has been that the business is in the healthcare/medical sector.

I have heard it will be a OneMedical concierge medicine office. Seems odd on that high-visibility retail/restaurant corner. With over a dozen new restaurants and shops recently opened, or coming soon to Bethesda Row, this seems like a very strange choice.

8:06: I believe they have one planned for Chevy Chase Lake, as well. Convenient for nearby residents, but unless they have a 24 hour clinic, it means what should be a well-lit, active corner will now be dead at night.

Bring back Chesapeake Bay.

So the space is owned by the condo association? It's an even weirder choice in that case for them to pick something lame over something that activates their own building. Maybe some nimby residents complained of restaurant smells or people enjoying the outdoor seating.

Always complaints, especially in the summer. The restaurant was in place when you bought your unit, yet you are shocked and appalled at seafood odors. Go figure.
